Thoughts

My dearest Pops... Heaven has gained an angel, and we truly cannot express how we and our family are feeling. Even though we knew it was coming, nothing prepares you for that moment, and nobody was ready to say our goodbyes. Cancer really does suck, but we will be strong for you as that is what you would have wanted. You were more than just a grandfather, you were a husband, father, brother, uncle and a friend. You were like a second dad to Daisy and I and there wasn’t a single thing you wouldn’t do for us. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you, and we wouldn’t have been able to achieve half of what we have if you didn’t guide us along the way. We will always look up to you for this. We have so many memories to look back on, and you’ll always be our hero. You were an extremely strong willed person, we liked to call you a ‘fighter’, which we, and others admire you for. You fought a few brave battles of various illnesses in your lifetime and we were extremely lucky to have had another 12 years with you. Now it’s time for you to be free. It is a relief that you are not in any pain anymore, and you have found your peace. When we have children they will know how strong and brave you were. You sowed seeds of love and wisdom here on earth that will continue to bloom forever. “It’s okay to cry, for it relieves the pain, for there would be no flowers, if there was no rain”. We love you Pops, forever and always.

I am proud to be your son and the privilege to call you Dad. You set the standard of parenting high and I will endeavour to do the same for Lucy and Daisy. All my love and rest easy.
